ś.p. Mariusz Gąska

Mariusz was born in Krasnik, Poland on January 7, 1965.
His dream was to leave the communist Poland to search for a better life so as a young man he left Poland in 1987. He had lived in Germany for over 2 years where he got married and had his first son before immigrating to Canada in April 1990.
Mariusz moved to Calgary and started building his life here. Even though the first few years were very challenging, overtime he learned the language and culture, and continued to succeed. He worked hard at different jobs to support his family and ultimately became a business owner. Mariusz along with his father Marian started working together and opened up Kings Bakery in 1998. Over the years he has developed the bakery and made it a successful business known within the Polish community and beyond. His bread, cakes, and paczki, have not only fed people far and wide, but have become family staples. Mariusz had many interests and throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and dog, lots of skiing, lake trips, dancing at the various events at the Polish Canadian Cultural Centre, playing soccer with the White Eagles Soccer Club, and mountain biking. He loved to visit his home town Krasnik, eat Golonka, drink Warka, and spend time by the pool with friends. Mariusz is survived by his loving wife, Dorota and his two sons, Adrian and Sebastian, mother Joanna and brother Darek with wife Kasia, and his nephews Bartek, Mike and Daniel. He was loved by his close and extended family and many friends. He will stay in everyone’s hearts forever. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive NW) on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:00am with Rosary Prayers prior at 9:30am. Graveside Service at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens Friday May 30, 2025 at 12:00pm with Reception to follow in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish Hall.
