Marek Kupiec, beloved partner of the late Carmelita Sesante, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the age of 77 years.
Marek was born in Zabrze, Poland on October 10, 1947. He studied mechanics at Technikum Mechaniczne in Wałbrzych, Poland. In 1972, he moved to France and in 1976, he immigrated to Montreal, Canada. He became a Canadian citizen in 1981, the same year he relocated to Calgary, which he proudly called home. Marek retained his Polish citizenship and remained deeply tied to his Polish roots.He worked as a mechanical technician for Albian Sands in Fort McMurray, AB, now operated by Shell, and retired from his professional career in 2012.A devout Catholic, Marek was deeply committed to his faith. In recent years, he discovered a passion for gardening, flowers, tomatoes, and all things health-related. He especially loved spending time with his cat, Keene.
Marek is survived by his two daughters and two sons-in-law, Agnieszka (Greg) of Calgary, AB and Joanna (Anthony) of Houston, TX, along with their two boys. Marek is also survived by his two sisters, Sylvia and Wanda, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marek was predeceased by his loving partner Carmelita; his parents, Wladyslawa Krupinska and Henryk Kupiec; and his brother Zbyszek Kupiec. His wishes are to be buried in his birthplace of Poland.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive NW, Calgary, AB), on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 9:30 A.M.
