Janina was born in Hanaczów, Poland, on February 26, 1940. She was the oldest of four children. Janina married the love of her life, Tomek Macyszyn, on April 28, 1963. They first met when they were both around ten years old during their first communion celebration. It was love at first sight. They got married when Janina was 23 years old and spent the next 60 years happily married.Janina graduated from the School of Economics in Poland and worked as a bookkeeper and accountant there; a job which she continued in Canada, running the family businesses with her husband. They made a great team.Janina was an amazing mother to her two children, Maciek (Mike) and Ania. While Tomek was off pursuing his passion for cycling, she worked hard to keep their home warm and inviting while he was travelling, In 1981, Tom and Janina decided to leave Poland and immigrate to Canada. They landed in Calgary and made a blessed life together until her passing. They shared many adventures together; camping, traveling, and celebrating many milestones in their lives with their new friends in Canada.Janina’s favorite pastime was enjoying art in its various forms. She spent many hours reading, spending time with her friends at the movie theatre, watching the latest features, and going to concerts.Janina is survived by her loving husband, Tom of Calgary, and their son Mike (Eva) and his two children Stefanie (Jordan) and Alex; her daughter Anna (Darryl), and their two children Jeremy and Julia of Calgary; and also her brother Tadek, sister Marysia, who both reside in Poland; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Janina was predeceased by parents Stanislaw and Maria; and sister Lusia.Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen Polish Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W)., Calgary Alberta on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at the Polish Parish Hall.
