Maria was born June 1, 1935 in Ostrowiec, Poland to Helena and Stanislaw Starzyk. She lived a fulfilled life leaving an imprint of her impeccable style, grace and beauty upon everyone she met. She made a home for her family in Poland and in1989 she and her husband immigrated to Calgary. Maria enjoyed reading, dancing, cooking, baking and spending time with her family. She was also involved in the Polish community by being an active member of the Polish combatant organization. She made many wonderful friends through this community. She was a devoted wife to Kazimierz, her husband of 69 years, She was a wonderful mother to her daughter Grazyna Mercik with husband Bogdan Mercik, son Andrzej Pastuszka with wife Danuta and son Grzegorz Pastuszka with wife Agnieszka. She was also a devoted grandmother to grandchildren Sandra and Patricia Mercik, granddaughter Beata Douglas with husband Peter Douglas, grandson Marcin Pastuszka and grandson Charlie Pastuszka. Maria was loved and will be dearly missed by family and friends in Poland and Canada.
